This podcast is a special episode that highlights the launch of OCE’s Investment Accelerator Fund. The $27million fund provides high-potential and innovative companies in Ontario early-stage financial support and management expertise to get off the ground and attract investment from other sources.

The IAF is a key component of the Ontario Market Readiness Program that is  delivered in partnership with Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), MaRS and the National Angel Organization (NAO)

OCE and MaRS work in collaboration to deliver the primary components of the MRP -  the Investment Accelerator Fund (IAF) and the Business Mentorship and Entrepreneurship Program (BMEP).

The first recipients of the Investment Accelerator Fund are: Atreo Medical Inc. and Metabacus Inc. and the following is a recording of the award presentation from OCE’s Discovery 2008 conference that took place on May 12th and 13th , 2008.

Welcome to the latest episode of the Ontario Centres of Excellence podcast, and the ninth in the Mind to Market Breakfast Series.

In this episode, we’ll hear from a panel of speakers who are involved in the development and commercialization of emerging biomedical technology development in Ontario.

The panel is made up of Anders Elmik, COO of Adjuvant Informatics Corporation; Dr. Geoff Fernie, VP of Research at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute; Paul Gilbert, CEO of Quanser Inc. and Dr. Les Levin, Senior Medical, Scientific and Health Technology Advisor, Head, Medical Advisory Secretariat Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Leading the panel is Jacques Sayegh, CEO and Managing Partner of York MedTech who begins the discussion with an overview of the commercialization opportunities in biomed technology.
